GLOWKiD w/ Mark Archer: '35 yrs Altern 8' - Aaja Radio (13th January 2026)
The first GenX show of 2026 kicked off in full rave mode as we celebrate the 35 amazing years of the groundbreaking Altern 8, with special guest the mighty Mark Archer.
Mark joined the show for an exclusive guest mix packed with proper Hardcore slammers, accompanied by an interview, recorded last month in Athens amidst his gigs in Greece. Across the conversation, Mark gives insight into the rise of a new generation of ravers and producers, his two Boiler Room sets, and the enduring impact of "Frequency" - spotlighted by Charli XCX and finally released late last year. He also reflects on how the "35 Years tour" tore through dancefloors worldwide, his shows in Greece and Brazil, as well as his historic B2B with Leeroy Thornhill last year in Brighton.
On a personal note I'd say, through this interview, one can and should realize that we don’t have to stick in the past for acts like Altern 8, when they continue to evolve and resonate with new generations. The vibe shall remain alive forever.
Regarding his set in Athens (13th December 2025), it was completely massive, as expected. More specifically, the venue and the laser show felt like a 90s warehouse, charged with an illicit spirit. Mark was the man of the moment, delivering a versatile set. I vividly remember him opening with “Pump Up The Jam” by Technotronic, for instance. Still, one of the most stunning moments of the night was his mix of “Radio Babylon” with “Papua New Guinea". Shivers down my spine for a class lecture, to say the least. The night was a total blast, elevated also by firing sets of the local legendaries Greg Staikos and Junior SP, highlighted by oldskool ravers in the dancefloor - some of them dancing along with their kids. Sunrise Zone team took us back in the day.
And a day before, Mark's set in Salonica (Thessaloniki), was absolutely scintillating, as there were many young ravers there too - an optimistic sign for the future. Worth to mention that my friend Motivbreaks, who djed that night, sent me instantly a message right after the gig saying: "Mate, this was my biggest party ever and Mark was top notch!".
