Top 5 vinyl recommendation (Summer 2024)

  •  Hardcore EP #001 - TRY UNITY  [Rave Radio Records]
The magic trio from Brighton returns with an extraordinary work, something that you've probably never heard before. Inspired by jungle techno and more upfront eurovibes, and likely influenced by the most recent compilation 'This is Jungle Tekno' by the same label, it appears to be an upgraded continuation of their debut 'Neurons & Chemicals' from four years ago.
A great example of that, is a banger called 'Out Of Control'. The production level is stronger, and all of the four tracks deliver relentless energy through your speakers, with loads of experimentation and mystery covered throughout the entire record.

The act have described this EP as 'some of their best work so far' through the label, and no one can deny those frenetic beats and tunes that would fit into any type of set, whether it is hardcore breaks or even a techno/acid mix. Noteworthy to mention that this is a new series run by Rave Radio Records.

  •  Shan - Warehouse Vol.2  [Running Back]
Excited to see that the second installment in Shan's very own essential warehouse is available now and the result is consistently excellent. Following the formula of his first volume, the tracks pay homage to the gritty, unconventional venues that made raving in such places thrilling. There’s house music that mimics techno (e.g. 'Elevate') and vice versa. Enhanced with breakbeats (e.g. '89 Swing' or the Future Sound of London-inspired 'Euphony'), emotional breaks (i.e. 'Uplift My Spirit'), and even dub sirens, there’s something here to fit almost any setting.

However, the standout tune of this 8-track LP must be 'Phantazia' - an anthemic track that blends proto-hardcore vibes with Soul II Soul-style strings. Fans of Hooj Choons and early 90s vibes, the German don has returned.

  •  Hartta - Euphoria Jones  [Industrias94]
When it comes to breakbeats, Spain always deserves a mention.
Industrias94 is back with a brand new record entitled 'Euphoria Jones', led by the talented Hartta. This release takes us on a journey through the golden days of UK hardcore, featuring infectious stabs and intense drum breaks that have been electrifying many dancefloors as a dubplate for years. Hartta, who refined his skills in Bristol's vibrant soundsystem culture, co-runs the Dead Trax label-collective with Random Vestax, known for introducing groundbreaking artists like Nikki Nair and Interplanetary Criminal to AndalucĂa.
Expect hard-hitting breakbeats and, on the flip side, a darker, acid-infused remix of the title track with a driving 4x4 beat and an electrifying drop.

A surefire hit on every dance floor - take for instance Da Lila's Boiler Room set in 2022, where 'Euphoria Jones' caused mayhem live!

  •  Nice Trick - BASIC002  [Basics Records]

London's Basics Records is undoubtedly a hardcore jungle label you should add to your list. Their second installment, released in limited edition, introduces the sounds of Nice Trick and is set to elevate the entire jungle scene. Specially dedicated to the '93/'94 posse, Nice Trick drops some powerful kicks, rolling bass, crispy drums, and catchy vocals, aiming to energize any dance floor. On the flip side, Fez The Kid’s remix adds a soulful sample, signature amen chops, and unexpected breakdowns, making it a standout addition to any collection.

This is a record that breathes summer and exudes sunny amen breaks.

  •  Diogo - Eu Adoro Os Meus Amigos  [Discos Extendes]

Discos Extended head honcho Diogo from Lisbon presents a deeply personal record, celebrating his friendships with the EP titled 'Eu Adoro Os Meus Amigos!' - which translates to “I Love My Friends!” The first single, 'Dar Ao Slide', offers a taste of his new work, appealing to fans of nuskool UK bass and breaks. This EP features drum-packed tracks with straightforward structures and heavy bass designed to energize any dance floor. It also includes remixes from Lisbon’s finest, BLEID and Velvet Skin (the electro alias of techno artist VIL). Set for release on September 20th, the EP is available for pre-order on Bandcamp and comes with a special merch collaboration with handmade candle brand “Pyra,” plus a limited edition 10" Dubplate.

This release is definitely one to watch.
