Bandcamp Day - 1st September 2023.
I'm always chuffed to support this platform. Every Bandcamp Day feels like a celebration of support in music. The way they respect the Artists and the Labels by waiving their share of revenues once in a month in order to help them out, is something that has to be embraced by all of us. Additionally, for every purchase in any other day, a 82% reaches to the Artist or the Label.
The Bandcamp Day is an idea launched in March 2020, on a very hard period for the world, let alone the music industry which suffered a lot. The response was extremely huge and it exceeded any expectation reaching $4.3 million, while in May 2020 it got even higher by $7.1 million, as it is officially stated. And the rest is history...
" On the first Friday of the month since March of 2020, we’ve waived our revenue share to help support artists on Bandcamp. Since then, more than a million fans have paid artists and labels over $100 million USD (if you’re one of them, thank you). The next Bandcamp Friday is September 1st, and Bandcamp Fridays will continue on October 6th, November 3rd, and December 1st. As always, isitbandcampfriday.com has the details.
If you’ve started to feel guilty about buying music on any other day of the month, here’s something to keep in mind: on Bandcamp Fridays, an average of 93% of your money reaches the artist/label (after payment processor fees). When you make a purchase on any other day (as millions of you have, with more than $1 billion now paid directly to artists), an average of 82% reaches the artist/label. Every day is a good day to support artists on Bandcamp!" (Source)
This is my pick for the Bandcamp Day of September. Anything left or missed out, will be added on the next one that will be on 6th October.
